At the height of the global pandemic, the management of Kakira Sugar Limited took up the call to contribute to the nation’s battle against Covid-19 by launching a new brand of sanitiser. Kakira Distillery Limited
Kakira Distillery Limited markets, sells and distributes the range of premium bottled potable spirits manufactured by Kakira Sugar Limited. These include award-winning gins, rums and vodkas.
First established in 1964 in Jinja, the Madhvani Steel division has been rehabilitated with the installation of a modern automated steel rolling mill and a continuous billet casting facility. The steel plant has a rolling capacity of 30,000 tons per year and a billet casting capacity of 50,000 tons per year. It is also equipped for production of chain link fencing, binding wires and barbed wire fencing. The wire-drawing section and the fencing materials section has a capacity of 1,200 tons per annum and 1,000 tons per annum respectively. Moreover, the Company also has an oxygen plant (both for industrial and medical purposes) with a capacity of 90 cubic metres per hour.
Makepasi Match Limited
Makepasi Match Ltd is the largest producer of wax matches in Sub-Saharan Africa, using environmentally friendly wax coated paper as opposed to conventional wooden matchsticks. Makepasi presently employs over 1,000 people and has a monthly production capacity of 60,000,000 individual matchboxes. Makepasi is also the largest employer of People with Disabilities (PWDS) in Uganda.
